Much of the northern region is covered by the dense Amazon Rain Forest , the largest in the world. It is home to thousands of diverse flora and fauna species and is ideal for those looking for close contact with nature and eco-tourism. The most common gateway to the forest is the city of Manaus where, from there, you can enjoy a stay at a jungle lodge or cruise. Regional attractions include activities such as jungle hiking, canoeing, fishing and visiting with local Indian communities. In addition, the local annual celebrations of Paratins and Círio de Nazaré also draw many people to the region. |

The most popular region in Brazil among visitors, the southeast is home to the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro . Rio de Janeiro shines with its beautiful beaches and majestic mountains of Sugarloaf and Corcovado . Within a few hours driving distance are the beach towns of Buzios and Angra dos Reis. São Paulo has many museums, shops and nightlife and is within driving distance to the seaside towns of Santos , Ilhabela and Ubatuba which offer various leisure activities. Along the far east coast of the region is the town of Vitoria , known for its sport fishing. For those interested in colonial history and architecture, visit the towns of Ouro Preto and Tiradentes in Minais Gerais or Paraty in the state of Rio de Janeiro. |
